Earning, learning or training?

One of the most vital measures of an effective school is the post-schooling success of our students. This is another area of schooling that Babinda P-12 State School feels shouldn’t be left to chance. To this end, our school, with the support of our education region have implemented our Earning, learning or training – service commitment. Essentially we are committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure that 100% of our students achieve a real life outcome at the end of year 12. This means that all students either undertake:

  • An OP and enter University.
  • A clear VET pathway to employment.
  • Paid employment of 25+ hours/week.
  • Alternative pathways for some students with special needs.

Post schooling commitment

As a school and a region we believe that giving our students a good start into adulthood is so important that we welcome families and students to contact the school for up to two years after completion if they need support to get back onto one of these pathways.

Strong senior education and training planning and monitoring

To ensure that students do get the best start into adulthood, we undertake a really strong senior education and training (SET) planning process in year 10. Our senior education and training plans help parents, students and the school work together to goal set, plan and make decisions that help our students to have the best chance of achieving a quality pathway at the completion of year 12.

Additionally, once this planning is completed the school constantly monitors the student’s progress through our Babinda performance pact as well as regular SET review meetings to ensure that students are on track to achieve their pathway.
