New leaders shine through....

Recently students, staff, families and community members enjoyed the 2016 Student Leaders Induction Ceremony in the great hall at Babinda P-12 State School.  The ceremony was held to induct the elected leaders of 2016 into their positions of School Captain, Primary School Captain, and Sports House Captain, Indigenous Ambassador as well as the Student Council Executive and representatives.

The rigorous selection process for these positions took place earlier in the term and included speeches and a panel interview as well as a popular vote.  The many inspiring speeches delivered in front of the judging panel, staff, peers and family members was a testament to strength of leadership at the school.  Additionally with school children being such an important part of the Babinda community it was heart-warming to see the enthusiasm; the demonstrated dedication to the wider community and the maturity of the many students who stepped up to proudly and confidently compete for these positions.
During the ceremony the 2016 leaders pledged to lead with initiative and vision and to support and encourage their peers and school community throughout the year.  To also make sure that the great successes in academic results, cultural involvement and sporting achievements at the school continues.
Newly appointed school captain Courtney Spokes said “Being a leader is never about the role, it is only about the goal! This year you will see the student leadership team continue to strengthen the school’s link within the community and to support all of our fellow students through the challenges we face this year striving to excel. ”
The ceremony concluded with a morning tea for the 2016 leaders and their families.
